Save space in your hiking pack or trail running vest when bring along the Platypus SoftBottle with Push-Pull Cap. This low-profile bottle is lightweight, flexible, and takes up very little space once you've polished it off. Best of all, it's made from a BPA-free plastic and features a push-pull cap for quick and convenient hydration.
Highly packable: When empty, the SoftBottle easily flattens and rolls up compactly, saving space
Smart design: Bottle narrows at the middle to make it easy to hold
Versatile: Available with either a Closure Cap or a Push-Pull Cap; accepts any threaded Platypus lid or drink tube kit
Pure Platy experience: Materials are taste-free, BPA-free, BPS-free, and phthalate-free
Cap fits well and is water tight. Bag is rugged and holds water, what else is there to say?Light weight and durable. Great for hikingI like the trees design. It looks like I'll still need to wash it frequently and the cap will eventually have built up too many grooves for my comfort. I still prefer push pull over hyperflow (cover sold seperately) and closure cap (less comfortable to drink from with my mouth and less flow control). The curve helps with grip. It rolls or lays flat being both very light weight and easy to carry, when empty. No negative impact on taste. You can put more than just water in here, I just don't.As long as I don't fill it to bursting and jump up and down on it, or other kinds of major abuse over the year, it won't leak, lol.Even with patterns, people still give it the side-eye and come up with imaginative ideas of what it is. When they think it is hospital gear, when they think IV bag, I don't mind, but they think something else, I do. Other people say the curvy shape makes them think of a mini person. Needless to say, this is some unexpected entertainment of sorts. For some reason it isn't obviously a water bottle to people, until I drink from it, lol. The caps look obvious to me, but I guess that's just me.The one with the loop for attaching it to things is bulkier, but sometimes I miss that feature.Even though I keep buying new ones, there's really nothing really wrong with my old ones. They're easier to store than than old milk bottles and taste better for emergency water storage. I exchange back and forth if I'm being lazy on cleaning up my current primary bottle. The gravity purifier is probably better for those purposes, though. (more water and filter).Honestly, I'd be cool if they sold these in some kind of bulk pack, like they do the wine preservers.I know nalgenes are the still rage and finally BPA-free, but they don't really offer any advantages that I'm interested in. The knock off Platypus's might look more commercial, but I prefer transparency for cleanliness, etc. and those don't have the same quality material and construction.Overall: worth buying for a light weight backpacking bottle. Probably the best overall option on Amazon. I own two of these personally.Good:Lightweight (much lighter than a Nalgene)Rolls/folds up into a small space (can fit multiple bottles in one side pocket)Good priceBPA freeSport cap (easy to drink on the move, can use it to wash dishes and hands while at camp without wasting much water)Cons:Some people have noted the slippery top cap. I don't even bother with it and tossed the cap in the recycling bin. It adds an unnecessary step between me and a drink of water. It also adds unnecessary (though negligible) weight to the pack. Besides, you'll probably lose it after a few hikes anyway. The other thing that I don't like is that the bottle hard to clean and takes a long time to dry. However, this is not particular to this bottle, but a problem for soft bottles and hydration packs in general. For every day use and short day hikes, I just use a nalgene bottle. For long distances and overnight through hikes, though, these are worth the hassle of cleaning/drying once you get home. On the trail, you can just rinse and reuse with tap water, so no worries. The durability is amazing!! I filled up one of these with casamigos & snuck it into rolling loud. Got in just fine! It was super durable, did not leak, it’s flexible and convenient. So glad I got them!I'm an avid backpacker. Really love this. The squirt-bottle top closes securely with a "snap". Rolls up small when empty. Most importantly, it conforms around other stuff in your pack, freeing up space. The material is tough.Would definitely recommend to a friend.I purchased this item with the intention of skiing. I wanted a bottle that could easily fit in my jacket for in bounds days when I didn’t want to carry a full pack. I was between this water bottle, the same bottle but with a standard screw cap and a similar .7L bottle made by Vapur. I ended up going with the standard cap. The Vapur was good quality, but .7L was slightly large for ski jacket pockets and the cap was more sizable. The push pull cap was firm which I saw as a must to ensure it did not leak in my pocket, but it did not screw onto the bottle as much as the standard screw cap, so I went with the standard cap for security reasons. That said, I have heard of people using the push pull for skiing without problems, but I still liked the increased security of the screw cap. The only downside with the screw cap is that you have to hold the cap when it’s off so there is a possibility you could drop it.I purchased this to carry in my pocket while skiiing (in lieu of a backpack or a bulkier water bottle). I've also found it useful when traveling if I'm low on space in my carry-on.Pros: It does flatten down quite well and has been durable. I've used it weekly for the past year or so and have had no issues with leaks.Cons: It's hard to drink from one-handed, even with the push-pull cap. I usually find myself using both hands to tilt the bottle up - when I try to raise it and it isn't completely full, the plastic tends to bend and create an internal seal that doesn't allow the water to flow. Also, the push-pull cap seems cheap - it's performed fine but might have gotten thrown away at some point since it doesn't look like something you'd keep around for a long time.Utterly brilliant. My trick is to stay hydrated while flying, I always carry a flat, empty Platypus through customs, then fill it from the tap in the bathroom before getting on the plane. In nasty British airports like Heathrow and Gatwick just fill up even though the tap is hot and it says the water's undrinkable (it's rubbish) and by the time you're in the air and in need of a drink of water, it will have cooled down. These do tend to have a reliability problem in that they sometimes leak around the top, but if that happens, just return it for a replacement; Platypus have a great warranty....I love this bottle. It’s surprisingly hard wearing and folds up to be tucked into a bag or pocket when it’s empty. Super for walking and travel. Really lightweight.I got this because I owned a platy hoser for my backpack which has been reliably leak-proof. This one seems to be reliable too. Dragged it around with me in Canada, kayaking and walking and it’s still in really good condition.Perfect size for a sports drink. They improved on the old design. I already lost the cap, maybe a retainer on a plastic ring would be a good idea... or I could be more careful.Fold really well and reduce size allows for more room in the backpack. This is a brilliant product purchased to replace one bought over ten years ago and used daily. I've saved a fortune on buying bottles of water using the Platypus Softbottle which never leaks.
